Where can I go to hear a discussion about Y2K issues and products, specifically as they relate to UB?

From 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on March 2, the UB Y2K Steering Committee will sponsor an educational event on "Y2K Issues and Solutions." Open to the university community, presentations will focus on compliance for specific hardware and software products, as well as on Y2K utility programs. It will be held in 120 Clemens Hall on the North Campus.

The schedule:

    8:30 a.m.-Intel Issues: An overview of the Y2K issues of Intel-based client server environments in higher-education environments; includes a discussion of what can be done with the time left in 1999. Speakers: Todd Bender, director of consulting practices; Allen Gates, senior systems consultant; Paul Byczynski, senior integration account manager, all with IKON Office Solutions. Designed for both general and technical users.
    9:30 a.m.-Microsoft Products: An overview of Y2K issues of Microsoft products, including Word, Excel and Access. Presented in cooperation with the School of Management Microcomputer Training Program. Speaker: Jordan Evans, SOM instructor. Designed for the general user.
    10:45 a.m.-PC Utilities: A demonstration of the following Y2K software tools: GM2000, Norton 2000 and Symantec, Btestfix.exe. Speaker: Dave Sepulveda, CIT Repair Services. Designed primarily for the technical user, although general users also may find it helpful.
    Noon-UB's Y2K Web site and others: A presentation of UB's and other informational Y2K Web sites. Speaker: Mark Greenfield, CIT Web master. Designed for general and technical users.
