Day 1 at the Königliches Schloss on the Spreeinsel — Berlin’s royal palace begun in 1443, then rebuilt in the first half of the 18th century before ultimately being destroyed in WWII and completely demolished thereafter. What stands today is a recently completed (2013-20) reconstruction of the building, with contemporary courtyard facades and interiors.
