News and views for the UB community
Haley Myruski, Slate Hill, N.Y.: “I’ve had this pillow forever, like from when I was 4 or 5 years old, and I bring it with me everywhere. If I didn’t have it with me, I probably wouldn’t sleep.”
Kyle Pestar, Oriskany, N.Y.: “I got this ‘RAM-fish’ from a summer job. No one else wanted it, so I took it, and I brought it to college with me because it reminds me of home. I plan to keep it until the RAM falls out.”
Oshane Bryce, Brooklyn, N.Y.: “I brought two suitcases full of Caribbean foods, maybe more food than clothing. I love to cook, and these are my home foods.”
Madison Perrault, Binghamton, N.Y.: “These are my best friends. Since I can’t have them here physically, I can look at the photos and remember all our good times together.”
Rodrigo Tjan, Fairport, N.Y.: “I was on the varsity swim team, and my teammates gave me this box. It was filled with cards that each of them had written their favorite memories on. I just brought the box; I’m going to use it to hold pencils. But I wanted it on my desk to remind me of all the swim team memories.”
Alexis “Lexi” Harrell, Albany, N.Y.: “This T-shirt reminds me of my core values. Best Buddies is an organization that pairs people who have intellectual or developmental disabilities with students who don’t to create friendships. I participated for three years and am hoping to start a club at UB.”
Melanie Mangar, Westchester, N.Y.: “This M pillow is the first thing I got for my dorm room. It reminds me of my mom because she bought it for me.”
Michael Tibbetts, Bemus Point, N.Y.: “This was a first-year anniversary gift from my girlfriend. I like how it looks, and it’s meaningful because she made it. It reminds me of my motivation for getting an education.”
Isabella Mattera, Holbrook, N.Y.: “I love doing makeup. This mirror is a must-have for me.”
