“Conventus means coming together,” said Anne B. Curtis, SUNY Distinguished Professor, Charles and Mary Bauer Professor, chair of the Department of Medicine, vice president of UBMD Physician’s Group and president of UBMD Internal Medicine. She noted there have been 15,470 patient visits since the first UBMD practices opened in March at Conventus.

Kevin J. Gibbons, senior associate dean of clinical affairs and associate professor of neurosurgery in the medical school, and executive director of UBMD Physicians’ Group, said that in addition to improving health care for patients, joining the 12 practices together at Conventus also improves conditions for physicians because it facilitates collaboration.

Grand opening

UBMD Physician’s Group, the practice plan of the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, celebrated the official grand opening of the UBMD Outpatient Center on Sept. 28 on the fourth floor of the Conventus building on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. The new center consists of more than 54,000 square feet of clinical space, including 90 patient care rooms. More than 100 physicians provide patient care through 12 UBMD practices: Dermatology, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Obstetrics-Gynecology, Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, Pathology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Surgery and Urology.
