Michelle Lucero, a diversity advocate, carries yarn for the UB Unity Project, organized by the Intercultural & Diversity Center, on the Student Union Field on the North Campus.

The project featured a circular arrangement of 32 poles, each pole labeled with an identifier, such as “I speak more than one language,” “I am a parent” and “I identify as LGBTQ.”

Using skeins of yarn, participants string yarn between the poles with which they identify.

As more people take part, the yarn creates what IDC Associate Director Terri Budek calls a “canopy of interconnectedness.”
