University Communications photographer Douglas Levere captured a stunning view of the August full moon, or Sturgeon Moon, shining over Baird Point and Lake LaSalle on Aug. 28. The moon's name comes from the lake sturgeon, a native Great Lakes fish that was traditionally harvested in late summer and was an important food source for Indigenous communities in the region.
