Jerry R. Buchanan drives a truck for Campus Mail. He’s been with Campus Mail for a few years; before that he drove a UB shuttle route.
Mail and packages are still coming to campus and they need to be delivered. What does he miss most about work before the pandemic? “I’m a very sociable person,” he says. “I miss people. Every office is empty. There’s nobody around anymore. The day seems longer because there’s nobody to talk to.” But Buchanan’s sense of humor keeps him going. He has a set of Victor E. Bull bobbleheads he keeps on the dashboard of his truck. And all of them are wearing masks. What would he like those of us working remotely to know? “I’m glad you’re staying home,” he says, chuckling. “It’s safer for me.”
