“Within the SUNY Research Connect Portal, UB’s research and creative work will have even greater reach and impact across New York State. ”

UB is a key part of a comprehensive research networking platform launched by SUNY that aims to accelerate discovery, collaboration and innovation among SUNY researchers and beyond.

The SUNY-wide portal, called SUNY Research Connect, was announced Friday by SUNY Chancellor John B. King Jr.

UB’s part of the SUNY-wide initiative, called UB Research Connect, includes more than 2,300 UB investigators with expertise in artificial intelligence, microelectronics, biotechnology, quantum information science and other fields.

“The UB and SUNY Research Connect Portals will provide collaborators in academia, government and industry with streamlined access to SUNY researchers’ knowledge and expertise. Within the SUNY Research Connect Portal, UB’s research and creative work will have even greater reach and impact across New York State,” President Satish K. Tripathi says.

Currently, 26 campuses and nearly 7,000 researchers are represented in the SUNY-wide portal. UB joins Stony Brook University and SUNY Upstate Medical University in offering distinct branded portals.

“UB’s researchers are globally recognized for their expertise, creativity and commitment to the public good,” says Venu Govindaraju, senior vice president for research, innovation and economic development. “UB Research Connect gives collaborators on campus, across the world and in industry a way to easily find the UB experts and technologies that help drive meaningful impact.”

The portals automatically populate data on researchers and their work, including information about funding received and research publications, as well as opportunities to share equipment. Researchers can verify, add and update their information by visiting the Office of Research, Innovation and Economic Development’s UB Research Connect webpage.

SUNY Research Connect, King said, supports Gov. Kathy Hochul’s ongoing commitment to advance SUNY research and ensure New York State is on the cutting edge of emerging technologies and industries.

“The SUNY Research Connect platform reinforces our commitment to achieving Gov. Hochul’s goal to double research across our colleges and universities,” King said. “With this portal, SUNY will offer resources and information that help fuel groundbreaking advancements and collaboration throughout the SUNY system.”
