UB to celebrate faculty and staff excellence

Members of the UB community will gather on Oct. 29 to recognize the achievements of outstanding faculty and staff at the 22nd annual Celebration of Faculty and Staff Academic Excellence.

The celebration will take place at 3:30 p.m. in Slee Hall, North Campus.

"This celebration reflects the strength of our university community," says Graham Hammill, senior vice provost for faculty affairs and dean of the Graduate School. "The faculty and staff recognized this year embody the dedication and scholarly distinction that drive UB’s excellence.”

Hammill will emcee the event. President Satish K. Tripathi will provide a welcome; Provost A. Scott Weber will offer remarks.

Hammill and other university leaders will announce the recognition and awards of faculty and staff in several categories:

• National and international awards that are recognized as prestigious by the Center for Measuring University Performance, the National Research Council and UB’s academic deans.
• SUNY Distinguished Faculty.
• SUNY Chancellor’s Horizon Award for Faculty Research and Scholarship.
• SUNY Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence.
• UB Inventor Award.
• UB Entrepreneur Award.
• UB Distinguished Professor.
• 50 and 60 years of service at UB.

A reception will be held in the Slee lobby following the ceremony.

Information about this year's ceremony honorees, as well as a selection of other research, teaching and mentoring awards received by faculty and staff during 2025, are listed on the Celebration of Academic Excellence website.
