UB faculty will be in the spotlight next month as the Department of Music presents a variety of faculty recitals.

The lineup:

  • Faculty Chamber Recital: 7:30 p.m., Feb. 9, Baird Recital Hall, 250 Baird Hall, North Campus. Faculty members Jonathan Golove, cello; Eric Huebner, piano; and Hanna Hurwitz, violin, will perform a program featuring Janacek’s Violin Sonata, Webern’s Drei Kleine Stücke op. 11 and Cello Sonata, Debussy’s Cello Sonata and Charles Ives’ Piano Trio.
  • Sungmin Shin, guitar: 7:30 p.m. Feb. 12, Baird Recital Hall. Shin will be joined by UB colleagues Tiffany Du Mouchelle, soprano; Sabu Adeyola, bass; George Caldwell, piano; and John Bacon, drums. They will perform the music of Toshio Hosokawa, as well as original compositions by Shin.
  • resAUnance: 7:30 p.m., Feb. 27, Baird Recital Hall. This chamber jazz ensemble consisting of faculty members Jonathan Golove, cello, and John Bacon, percussion, as well as vocalist Esin Gunduz and pianist Michael McNeill, performs an eclectic blend of music composed by the group members and from a variety of musical traditions. On Feb. 27, the musicians return to Baird Recital Hall — where they recorded their 2016 FMR records release, “Migration” — to present a program of new material and selections from their repertoire.
