Mark Coldren
Mark Coldren, associate vice president for human resources, has been selected to receive the 2016 Donald E. Dickason Award from the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR).
CUPA-HR’s highest honor, the Dickason award is named for the association’s founder and recognizes an individual for exceptional leadership and service to CUPA-HR.
Coldren, who joined UB last July after serving as head of human resources at Ithaca College, will be formally recognized at CUPA-HR’s annual conference in Washington, D.C., in September.
He has been active in CUPA-HR for more than a decade, beginning at the chapter level and then joining the association’s Eastern Region board of directors in 2007. He was elected to the national board in 2008, and served as chair in 2013-14.
CUPA-HR praised Coldren for being “a valuable contributor to CUPA-HR endeavors, often contributing ideas that lead to highly successful new initiatives.”
He provided outstanding leadership in developing CUPA-HR’s new learning framework, has been a regular contributor to conferences and has made significant contributions to CUPA-HR’s diversity, equity and inclusion, and learning and professional development work, the association said.
In addition, he mentors emerging higher education HR leaders and helped lead development of CUPA-HR’s emerging leader and mentorship programs.
