Day one with President Genco
A new chapter began at UB on Monday, as Caroline Attardo Genco, PhD, settled in for her first day as the university’s 16th president. From having lunch with students in One World Café to visiting with dental students back for the semester to touring the UB Anderson Gallery, the president’s busy first day offered a preview of what’s to come as she gets to know the UB and Western New York communities in the coming weeks and months. Exploring UB’s unique labs
Go behind the scenes for a tour of some of UB’s most unique labs and facilities on campus, where students and researchers are bringing ideas to life. From simulating extreme environments and earthquakes to testing the transportation technology of tomorrow, these spaces showcase the innovation happening every day at UB.
“The Inhabitable Edge”
UB architecture students Alireza Borhani and Ada Rodriguez received the Emerging Interior Designer of the Year award at this year’s Paris Design Awards for “The Inhabitable Edge,” the final project they designed for Next-Gen Architect, a graduate studio in the School of Architecture and Planning led by adjunct instructor Randy Fernando. Instead of separating interior from exterior or architecture from furniture, “The Inhabitable Edge” proposes a continuous spatial system where human presence becomes the force that transforms architecture itself.
