  • Tracking forever chemicals across food web shows not all isomers are distributed equally
    12/15/25

    UB researchers found that the toxic chemical PFOS bioaccumulates differently in the food web, with more harmful linear isomers becoming dominant in fish-eating birds. This indicates that PFAS isomers should not be considered chemically equivalent in environmental monitoring and regulation.

  • Exhibition asks visitors to listen like an oyster

    “Serenades for Settling” is an immersive, interdisciplinary exhibition that explores how human-made underwater noise affects oysters, combining marine ecology, acoustics research, robotics, performance, and real-time data to make hidden soundscapes perceptible. 

  • Building toward justice in rural counties

    The UB Law Rural Justice Initiative aims to address the severe shortage of legal representation in New York’s rural counties by creating educational pathways, internships, and fellowships that encourage law students to begin their careers in underserved areas. 

  • UB’s EOC to receive SUNY ‘Mini-Grant’
    12/4/25

    The Buffalo EOC received a $100,000 SUNY grant to launch its first food pantry and address food insecurity among students. The initiative will also provide nutrition education, stress management support, and transportation assistance to help students succeed.
