SMART Community of Excellence provides a focus and connection for industry researchers, faculty, and students from multiple decanal units.
Kemper Lewis, Co-Director, SMART Community of Excellence; Chair and Professor, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, gave his professional perspective as part of a panel about Industry 4.0 at the Manufacturing Council meeting in July.
Exposing learners at all levels to the challenges associated with advanced design, manufacturing and construction across scales of time, size and complexity - in the classroom and lab, online and through experiential opportunities
By design, SMART is community led and driven by the activity of our faculty researchers and industry partners. Leadership exists in the SMART model of governance to facilitate the work of the community.
SMART works closely with university and regional partners to create systems for design, manufacturing and construction in order to bring highly-customizable products to market faster, while remaining ecologically and economically sustainable.
