Prominent nurse leader to deliver commencement address

We are pleased to announce that Kevin Browne, DNP, RN, CNS, CCRN-K, the Chief Nursing Officer for Northwell Health's Manhattan campuses, will be the 2024 commencement speaker for the University at Buffalo's School of Nursing.

Browne's career in health care is marked by significant achievements in leadership. Before his role at Northwell Health, he served as the director of patient care services at NYU Langone Health, where he was instrumental in implementing innovative patient care strategies and enhancing staff development programs.

His commitment to the nursing profession extends beyond practice and into active leadership roles, where he advocates for the continuous improvement of nursing standards and policies. Before joining Northwell Health, Browne was the senior vice president of patient care services and chief nursing executive at St. Joseph’s Health in New Jersey. His leadership was pivotal in launching significant reforms such as the overhaul of the quality, safety, and patient care program and initiating a comprehensive review of staff compensation strategies.

Prior to his tenure at St. Joseph's, Browne dedicated over two decades to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he ascended to the role of vice president and served as the first deputy chief nursing officer.

With nearly 40 years of experience in health care, Browne has earned recognition as a sought-after speaker and expert panelist at numerous prestigious industry events. He has delivered keynote addresses and participated in panel discussions across a wide range of topics, including the crucial role of nurse executives in managing the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the importance of evidence-based practice and research within the nursing profession. Additionally, Browne has shared his expertise as a guest lecturer at several educational institutions, further contributing to the advancement of nursing knowledge and practices.

This blend of practical leadership and academic involvement makes Browne a distinguished figure in the nursing community, and an exemplary role model for our graduates.
