The story notes that Bartholomew stated that the high volume of government-issued Statements of Interest and executive orders "may jeopardize the ability of the courts to work through cases and ‘develop responses independently.’" She further warned that when the Department of Justice dictates legal interpretations, "you worry a bit about the separation of power."
