The Washington Post sought the expertise of Thomas Russo for a COVID-19 vaccination guide this fall. Russo said vaccination is especially important for older adults, young children, pregnant women, people with underlying conditions and those who are immunocompromised, but noted that healthy people can also benefit by reducing their chances of transmitting the virus to vulnerable individuals. “Getting vaccination would be beneficial because you’re less likely to be infected, or if you do get infected, you’re going to shed lower levels of the virus,” Russo said. “So you’ll be indirectly protecting those individuals.”
