WGRZ-TV interviewed UB President Satish Tripathi who, after 15 years of leading the university, will step down in July and return to his faculty position. Tripathi discussed UB’s many accomplishments during his tenure, including major growth in research, infrastructure, athletics and economic development. He said leading UB has been both a privilege and deeply personal accomplishment. "I could not have imagined growing up in a small village in India that I would have the privilege to serve at a flagship university as its president," he said. He also discussed UB’s ongoing commencement ceremonies, noting that he has presided over nearly 150 graduation ceremonies and watched more than 140,000 degrees awarded. "If we count this year as well, that's 140,000 degrees in these 16 graduation years," he said. "The reach of these students — where they go, what they do — is phenomenal."
