Trump administration’s lawsuits against Harvard and UCLA have roots in a decades‑old fight over civil rights law

The Conversation published an article by Ryan Creps about the Department of Justice’s lawsuit against Harvard University and UCLA for not adequately addressing antisemitism on campus. Creps explains how the Supreme Court has interpreted the policies of past administrations as they relate to universities. “The Trump administration is testing just how much the federal government can exert power over colleges and universities that receive federal funding,” Creps wrote. “Some Trump administration supporters say they see this strategy as overdue enforcement against discrimination.”
