What happens when the media moves on from the Nancy Guthrie case?

USA Today interviewed David Schmid about the ongoing missing persons case to find the mother of “TODAY” show host Savannah Guthrie. Schmid said he has been “struck by how news about the case has been released by the authorities in a piecemeal, occasional fashion. If I didn’t know better, I would say that it’s almost a calculated strategy to try and maintain interest in the case for as long as possible.”
