Falling space junk can be tracked from its sonic booms

Science magazine contacted John Crassidis for his expertise regarding a recent study that showed the potential of using seismographs throughout the world to track space debris as it enters Earth’s atmosphere. “We’ve got these sensors already available, and we can use them for alternative means,” he says. “I’m really impressed with the steps they’ve taken.”
