Newsweek quotes Jason Briner in an article about a satellite image showing a new island forming inside Alaska’s Glacier Bay National Park as the Alsek Glacier, which once encircled a small mountain known as Prow Knob, has been melting. “The global trend of glacier retreat and disappearance due to anthropogenic climate is an enormous crisis,” Briner explained. “Prow Knob in Alaska, becoming a new island as nearby glaciers recede into oblivion, is just one of hundreds of examples of shifting landscapes as our planet experiences a dramatic uptick in glacier loss,” he said.
