Men’s Health quotes Leonard Egede, professor and Charles and Mary Bauer Endowed Chair of the Department of Medicine in the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, in an article about the validity of claims made by longevity wellness influencers. Egede explained that many influencers are just trying to make a buck. “Because society has moved away from wanting data-driven information, influencers can claim something prolongs life with little evidence to back it up and it may not be questioned,” he said. If you want to live a longer, healthier life, he recommends sticking with evidence-based moves. “There are no easy solutions,” he said. “The things that promote longevity are likely the same as they have been for decades—regular visits to a healthcare provider for screening and vaccinations, maintaining a healthy diet, ensuring regular physical activity, and avoiding smoking.”
