New research links shingles vaccine to reduced dementia risk

Women’s Health quotes Thomas Russo in an article about research linking the shingles vaccine to reduced dementia risk later in life. Russo explained that the virus that causes both shingles and chicken pox remains in nerve cells forever, and the shingles vaccine is the best way to prevent reactivation as the immune system weakens with age.
