Supreme Court decision on party limits could reshape spending in 2026

The National News Desk quotes Conor Dowling about a Supreme Court decision that could loosen restrictions on party funding for candidates. “It could possibly mean more money overall being poured into elections. Another possibility, however, is that there’s a shuffling of where money gets allocated by donors. Whether this means less flowing through the candidates themselves and/or PACs, Super PACs, etc., is an open question,” said Dowling. “My best guess is that there could be a small increase in the total amount being poured in, but perhaps a larger reshuffling of where money gets contributed to by donors.”
