Science magazine quotes Venu Govindaraju in an article about how states are building supercomputing centers to pursue artificial intelligence for the public good. He discusses Empire AI and how UB researchers, including Thomas Grant and his work to advance protein imaging tool AlphaFold, are leveraging the new supercomputing center at UB. “Before Empire AI, only a handful of massive tech companies had the computer resources to create a tool like AlphaFold,” says Venu Govindaraju, senior vice president for research at UB and an Empire AI board member. “With Empire AI, a researcher in New York can now build their own.”
