The New York Times quotes Marcelo W.B. Araujo in a story on what people should know about the mercury in their dental fillings following the European Union’s decision to ban mercury amalgam fillings to protect the environment. Araujo explained that mercury fillings are more durable, easier to place and less expensive than resin composites. “There are a lot of people here in the U.S. that still depend on amalgam restorations to have cavities filled,” he added.
