Time Magazine quoted UB professor of philosophy Carolyn Korsmeyer in an article on why people find it hard to resist popping pimples, despite recommendations against the behavior by dermatologists. Korsmeyer, author of “Savoring Disgust: The Foul and the Fair in Aesthetics,” says, “Human beings are attracted to a whole range of experiences that promote unpleasant emotional or physical reactions.”
