UB's supercomputing experts assess risks from Intel patches

A story on High-Performance Computing Wire, a website that covers the supercomputing industry, reports on a study led by researchers from UB's Center for Computational Research. Using the center's XD Metrics on Demand, a tool that monitors the performance of supercomputers and their software programs, researchers showed that recent patches put out by Intel to mitigate security vulnerabilities had little to no decrease in performance on most applications.
