A Trump libel suit against the Times? Don't count on it succeeding

An article in The Washington Post about a threatened lawsuit by Donald Trump against the New York Times for its article about two women who said he subjected them to unwanted sexual advances quotes Samantha Barbas, professor of law, who said she doesn’t think Trump will follow through in suing the Times because such an action would open him up to discovery by the newspaper, potentially forcing him to disclose past compromising behavior. Rather, she said, “this does seem to be about intimidating women who might come forth with their experiences — also, of course, about intimidating the press.”
