Greenland ice loss 40 trillion pounds bigger than thought

The Associated Press and news media outlets nationwide reported on a new study on the Greenland Ice Sheet co-authored by Beata Csatho, UB professor of geology. The study used GPS to come up with new estimates of how much ice the ice sheet has lost. Though the research found an increase in the losses, the increase represents a small percentage of the overall loss, and “I don't think it changes the picture of what's going on,” Csatho told the Associated Press.
