A story on NPR’s The Takeaway about how PTSD impacts policing in the U.S. interviews John Violanti, professor of epidemiology and environmental health in the School of Public Health and Health Professions. “I’ve experienced many traumatic events during my 23 years as a trooper, and I think many of them are still entrenched in my memory,” he said. “Stress is a cumulative thing, as well as trauma.” The story appeared on NPR outlets that include WNYC-FM in New York City, WBEZ-FM in Chicago and KUT-FM in Austin.
