An editorial in the Buffalo News calls on the state Legislature to push for the continuation of NY SUNY 2020, which is set to expire in 2016. The editorial, which quotes UB President Satish K. Tripathi, notes that since the bill’s passage, UB has invested in hiring 277 faculty, instituted the successful “Finish in 4” program, created 10,000 additional course seats and 300 new class sections and increased academic and financial advisors, as well as investing $6.77 million in need-based financial aid. “SUNY 2020 made sense a few years ago and it will make sense going forward,” the editorial says. “Cuomo and the Legislature need to act on this before the existing law comes much closer to expiring.”
