An article in the Hartford Courant on how playing video games can be good for you cites the counterintuitive results of research on video game violence from UB’s Matthew Grizzard, PhD, assistant professor of communication who had research subjects play a first-person shooter game as either a United Nations soldier or a terrorist. Grizzard was interviewed and said that “Video games are these important moral sandboxes. They allow us to practice moral decision-making we can’t do in the real world.”
