About the National Joining Forces Initiative
Joining Forces–UB was inspired by the White House Joining Forces initiative. The Joining Forces initiative was created by First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden to mobilize all sectors of society to honor and support military men and women, as well as their families, and to offer them the opportunities and services they deserve.

The Profession of Social Work supports Joining Forces
- The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) provides free training modules on social work with service members, veterans and their families
The Profession of Nursing also supports Joining Forces
- American Nurses Association
- American Association of Colleges of Nursing offers resources for providers working with veterans and military family members
