A program of The Center for Industrial Effectiveness (TCIE), grant funding from the Strategic Partnership for Industrial Resurgence (SPIR) program helps companies improve market posture, employee retention and job creation by subsidizing the cost of faculty and /or student research that develops new technologies or advances product development and testing.

About The Center for Industrial Effectiveness (TCIE) Strategic Partnership for Industrial Resurgence (SPIR)

Companies can apply for matching funds of up to $25,000 for UB engineering assistance, covering up to 50% of a total project cost.

SPIR projects provide technically advanced multidisciplinary assistance which may include, but is not limited to:

  • Research and development projects;
  • Finite element analysis, material design and selection;
  • Layout and workflow analysis;
  • Employing engineering graduate and PhD students;
  • Capital expenses are not covered

Participation and Eligibility

Grants are available to NYS companies with fewer than 500 employees.

Companies can apply by contacting CTIE with their technical assistance needs.
