Buffalo Student Sandbox

Students sitting at a table discussing a start-up business.

Buffalo Student Sandbox is a program for student entrepreneurs to work with venture coaches and attend facilitated learning sessions aimed at refining venture ideas.

About Buffalo Student Sandbox

Buffalo Student Sandbox turns the idea of a typical class on its head, where participants compete for resources as they launch a business.

Aside from the assistance of a venture coach, students will have access to resources available through Blackstone LaunchPad powered by Techstars and opportunities to connect with other entrepreneurs, both new and experienced. This program lasts eight weeks and is offered three times a year: October through December, March through May, and June through July. At the end of the eight weeks, student teams will be given the chance to pitch their ideas for the opportunity to win additional resources.

Participation and Eligibility

Buffalo Student Sandbox is a free program that accepts applications from teams led by current undergraduate or graduate students. All student-based, scalable start-ups in any industry are eligible.
