United University Professions (UUP) Student Scholarships

Overview

United University Professions (UUP) is the nation's largest higher education union and offers three student scholarships.

The William E. Scheuerman Post Baccalaureate Scholarship is awarded to full-time SUNY post graduate or professional school students who demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence, social justice issues and labor ideals.

The UUP College Scholarship Fund Undergraduate Scholarship is awarded to SUNY undergraduates who demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence, social justice issues and labor ideals.

The Steve Street Scholarship Award is awarded to an undergraduate student or group of undergraduate students currently enrolled at a SUNY campus who have created any paper or documented any project related to social justice issues or topics.

Eligibility Requirements

William E. Scheuerman Post Baccalaureate Scholarship:

Applicants must:

  • Be registered as a full-time graduate or professional school student at a SUNY campus.
  • Have completed at least nine credits at any SUNY graduate or professional school with a cumulative GPA of 3.95 or higher.
  • Be able to demonstrate dedication to the goals of the trade/labor-union movements, integrity, a tireless quest for excellence in both academic and personal endeavors, and service to the community.

UUP College Scholarship Fund Undergraduate Scholarship:

Applicants must:

  • Be registered as a full-time undergraduate student at a SUNY campus.
  • Have completed at least 18 credits at any SUNY branch with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher.
  • Be able to demonstrate dedication to the goals of the trade/labor-union movements, integrity, a tireless quest for excellence in both academic and personal endeavors, and service to the community.

Steve Street Scholarship Award:

Applicants must:

  • Be registered as a current undergraduate student at a SUNY campus (part-time students are especially encouraged to apply).
  • Have completed at least 15 credits at any SUNY branch.
  • Be able to demonstrate dedication to and intellectual engagement with social justice through their work.
