The Office of Faculty Affairs offers a three-year cost-sharing program to support the recruitment of a primary faculty member when an employment opportunity is being considered for an accompanying spouse or partner.
During each of the three years, the partner’s salary is shared equally among the Faculty Affairs cost-share program funds, the primary faculty member’s hiring unit and the partner’s hiring unit.
Associate Deans for Faculty Affairs may submit recruitment funding requests once the deans of the primary and partner hiring units have agreed to a hiring and cost-sharing plan. The proposal must identify whether the partner appointment will be term or permanent and include the proposed position, salary and start date. It also must detail the funding requested for each year of the three-year period, explain how the position will be financed after program funding ends, and summarize the qualifications of both individuals, the needs of the hiring units and the value of the proposed arrangement to UB.
Funding is contingent on the availability of program funds and the strength of the proposal.
