The 2026 Translational Teamwork workshop series highlights the power of team science and cross-disciplinary collaboration in advancing research. Drawing from the Behind the Proposal series by UB’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute, participants will explore real-world strategies for building effective teams, navigating conflicts, and fostering a culture of shared success. Through personal insights from principal investigators and research team leaders, the series emphasizes practical approaches to overcoming challenges and maximizing the impact of collaborative science.

Gloria Aidoo-Frimpong is a UB alum (PhD SPHHP) who re-joined the University at Buffalo as an assistant professor in 2024. In her research, she incorporates social and implementation science theories and mixed methods to study reproductive and sexual health, with a particular focus on HIV/AIDS prevention care. In this workshop, participants will learn from Dr. Aidoo-Frimpong’s experience how to build trust among research partners which is essential for any patient-centered research, especially on such sensitive topics as sexual health. Participants will also learn how trust and shared team goals could help mitigate conflicting situations and negotiate new team roles and research strategies.
