The University at Buffalo’s Participate in Research portal features studies for both adults and children. One, geared toward 10- to 14-year-olds, is particularly unique.

TOOTHPASTE STUDY FOR ADOLESCENTS

Colgate-Palmolive Co. has partnered with the University at Buffalo to explore which level of arginine in toothpaste is most effective in fighting tooth decay in adolescents. Researchers will compare the efficacy of three non-fluoride arginine toothpastes to a sodium fluoride toothpaste.

Participants will be randomly assigned one of four toothpastes, which they will use twice per day for a one year-period. They will undergo five free dental exams over the course of the year, and will be compensated for participation.

Eligibility

  • Children ages 10-14
  • Presence of second molars, or evidence of erupting permanent second molars
  • Good general health
