As part of the goal of the UB Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) Hub to share our special expertise and training programs with the CTSA consortium, we invited early career investigators in the CTSA consortium to apply for scholarships to attend a 3-day Pharmacokinetic-Pharmacodynamic (PK-PD) Modelling Course conducted by the UB School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences on May 16-18, 2016 at the Niagara Falls Conference Center.

This prestigious annual course is led by Drs. William Jusko and Donald E. Mager from the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, University at Buffalo.

This nationally recognized course presents the theory and applications of pharmacodynamics. The study of PK/PD and disease progression relationships is valuable in understanding drug action, building a knowledge repository, and finding optimal dosing regimens.

Scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each will support four scholars from around the country including one from the Buffalo Translational Consortium and three from other CTSA Hubs to attend the workshop. We are pleased to announce the winners of the travel scholarships:

Kaitlyn Dykstra, PhD
Postdoctoral Research Associate
Roswell Park Cancer Institute

Jianxiong Jiang, PhD
Assistant Professor
University of Cincinnati Academic Health Center

Maisa Feghali, MD
Assistant Professor and KL2 CTSA Scholar
University of Pittsburgh

Ramakrishna Samala, PhD
Research Assistant Professor

The scholarships are awarded to advance excellence and innovation in clinical and translational research as well as to promote greater interaction and collaboration among scientists throughout CTSA Hubs and universities. The winners will receive award certificates from CTSA leadership at the conference opening ceremony. They will also have the opportunity to enjoy the splendor and incredible scenic views of one of the wonders of the world-- Niagara Falls.
