Dr. Murphy, who retired on October 6 after 44 years at UB, has served the university in multiple roles, with an accomplished research agenda and a deep commitment to working with the community.

Dr. Murphy's leadership has been critical to securing three Clinical and Translational Science Awards from the NIH National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences, which established the CTSI at UB.
