This study explored the relationship-specific motivations for drinking alcohol with and apart from a romantic partner.

Examined relationship-specific motivations for drinking alcohol with and apart from one’s partner. The study developed and tested a new measure of relationship-specific drinking motives, and examined relationship-motivated drinking processes using ecological momentary assessment (EMA) and naturalistic observation via the Electronically Activated Recorder (EAR) in emerging adult romantic couples.
