You will have the opportunity to complete approximately eight hours of self-paced learning activities, including instructional modules, readings, exercises, and knowledge checks. You will be expected to earn a minimum score of 80% on each knowledge check, receive approval for a project proposal, and complete a final project that demonstrates the responsible evaluation and use of artificial intelligence to address a public health need or workflow. Your project will consider accuracy, bias, privacy, equity, ethics, safeguards, and human oversight.

This micro-credential program is intended for working professionals in public health and related fields who want to develop practical skills for the effective and responsible use of artificial intelligence in their professional work. Participants may work in governmental, healthcare, nonprofit, community, or research settings. No prior technical or programming experience is required.

Upon completion of the program, students will be awarded a UB–issued digital badge through Credly and the program will be noted on your academic transcript.
