A UB research team, including Mark Swihart, has developed a method for producing advanced nanoparticles that could accelerate the discovery of new materials for energy and electronic applications.

The SUNY Distinguished Professor is the 2026 recipient of the Geoffrey Marshall Mentoring Award from the Northeastern Association of Graduate Schools.

Mark Swihart, SUNY Distinguished Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, was recognized by UB’s Graduate School with the Excellence in Graduate Student Mentoring Award (EGSMA). 

Syracuse NPR affiliate WAER-FM featured Mark Swihart in a report on the environmental benefits of hydrogen fuel.

Two UB-led studies, co-authored by Mark Swihart, are developing a versatile and cost effective flame aerosol system that could pave the way for new nanomaterials. 

The catalysts can be used for dry reforming, an industrial process that turns greenhouse gases into useful chemicals.
