The following facts-showing comparisons over the past two years-were provided by the Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Information and Planning.

Admissions

•Number of undergraduate applications has increased from 17,187 to 18,275 ( up 6.3 percent)
Selectivity (accepted applicants) has gone from 82.4 percent to 75.5 percent
Average SAT math scores have increased from 580 to 586
Average SAT verbal scores have increased from 557 to 565
High school averages have increased from 89 to 90
Rank in class has increased from 74 to 79

Degrees Awarded

Number of total degrees awarded has increased from 5,078 to 5,241 (up 3 percent)
Number of bachelor's degrees awarded has increased from 2,914 to 2,998 (up 3 percent)
Number of master's degrees awarded has increased from 1,382 to 1,456 (up 5 percent)
Number of doctoral degrees awarded has increased from 271 to 310 (up 14 percent)

Enrollment

Overall enrollment has increased from 24,257 to 24,830 (up 2 percent)
Undergraduate enrollment has increased by 3 percent
Graduate enrollment has increased by 2 percent
New full-time graduate/professional enrollment has increased by 5 percent
Continuing/returning full-time grad/professional enrollment has increased by 5 percent

Sponsored Program Research

Total sponsored-program research increased from $76.1 million to $85.4 million (up 12 percent)
Direct sponsored-program research increased from $60.4 million to $ 67.2 million (up 11 percent)

Retention

First-time full-time freshmen retention rate has increased from 81.7 percent to 84.1 percent
Third-year to fourth-year full-time retention rate has increased from 63.5 percent to 64.5 percent

Housing

New on-campus apartments-383 rooms for 1170 students- were constructed
