The curtain goes up for "Transparent/See," choreographed by Entity Contemporary Dance.
"Gumboots Talking", choreographed by UB alum Robin Hibbert. Gumboot dancing — Isicathulo is the traditional name — was conceived by black miners in South Africa as an alternative form of communication to drumming during a time of migrant labor systems and oppressive apartheid. Now, the indigenous style serves to celebrate the body as an instrument and the richness of South African culture.
