Robert Wahler, clinical assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice, School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, has been named a fellow in the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP).

The recognition honors Wahler’s excellence in pharmacy leadership, practice and education, as well as his involvement and contributions to the ASCP. Wahler received the award Nov. 2 at the ASCP’s annual meeting in Florida.

The ASCP is the only international professional society devoted to improving medication management and health outcomes for the elderly. The organization represents more than 9,000 pharmacy professionals serving the unique medication needs of the nation’s aging population.

Wahler’s research focuses on identifying and reducing medication-related fall risk in the elderly. Using the medication therapy management model, he is developing clinical support tools to estimate fall risk and cognitive impairment from medication, and to detect inappropriate prescriptions.

He received a doctorate in pharmacy from UB and a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from Union University.
