A new work created by Bessie Award-winner Jennifer Nugent during her recent Creative Arts Initiative residency at UB will be a highlight of the Zodiaque Dance Company’s fall concert Oct. 19-23.

Performance times are 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday in the Drama Theatre in the Center for the Arts, North Campus.

The concert marks the last for faculty members Tom Ralabate and Tressa Gorman Crehan in their longtime roles as directors of the Zodiaque Dance Company.

The Zodiaque’s 43rd fall concert, directed by Kerry Ring, clinical assistant professor, will feature a wide range of techniques and styles, with a deep comprehension of abstract artistry and emotional nuance.

Works to be presented include those by UB faculty members Melanie Aceto, Kathleen Golde, Shelley Hain and Ring, as well as Nugent, a former Bill T. Jones dancer who led master classes for UB dance majors and the general public during her residency.

Other contributions include works by Zodiaque alumnus and artist-in-residence Jon Lehrer, Brooklyn-based choreographer Jennifer Golonka and local hip hop artist James Levy.

The UB Department of Theatre & Dance’s 2016-17 season is inspired by “humanity,” one of the five named UB 2020 themes.

Tickets for the Zodiaque Dance Company are $20 for the general public and $10 for students from any school and seniors, and may be purchased at the Center for the Arts box office and at tickets.com.
